Is there a "sticker" for when you pass a level 1 i

I have been told countless number of times that there is a sticker you can get when you pass a level 1 inspection that enables you to bypass any inspections for some period of time.

Well I asked the cop that day, and he turned around and said, "What are you f*cking stupid."  Well needless to say I felt like a dumb@ss.

Is that other truckers screwing with me, or was he just having a bad day and did not want to give me it.

Thanks

Yes, you are right! Check out this helpful website:

Don't believe everything cops say - we ask the same questions to different DOT officers just to make sure we have the right info.

Theres a CVSA Sticker an officer CAN (at his discretion) place on your windshield when you go through a inspection, I have one on my truck. The sticker is to let other officers know you've recently been inspected. It doesn't exempt you from getting another inspection though. Officers can inspect you at anytime regardless of this sticker being on your windshield. I think your friend just had the facts wrong about this sticker?

When you go through another inspection an officer won't neccesarily give you a new sticker. He may just cut the corner off to show other officers you've been inspected once since you got the sticker (initial inspection). Cut another corner office it shows officers you've had 2 inspections since the got the sticker.  It just allows helps officers avoid inspecting the same trucks over and over again. Having the sticker on your truck usually buys you some time between inspections.

Back in the old days if we seen a trailer with a new sticker on it we would peel it off and stick it on the windshield of our truck. It kept us out of the inspection bays. The DOT caught on to that and started cutting lines through the stickers with a razor blade so if you tried to pull them off it would come off in pieces. ( rats ). That worked pretty good but us outlaws could still make the sticker work. LOL. Nowadays they have a numbers on the stickers so if you tried that they'd have your @$$.  Not only that these new stickers distort and tear apart when you try peeling them off.

A long time ago I use to think they were just picking on us poor truckers when it came to this stuff. As I got a little older I started to understand the importance of these inspections and other saftey concerns. Funny how the way you look at things can change over the years.

Long story short an Officer can inspect you anytime he wants.

Thats too funny...  Soon you will not be able to see out your windsheild.  It reminds me of the forgetful man at work and his desk is filled with post it notes.

Thanks guys for the response.  I thought it was quite rude of the cop, but it looked like he wanted to get me on something.
