The hauling biz is a side line for me.  But now with insurance in place, I will be stepping up to the plate a little more to expand that side.  Not much work around here, Im anticipate hauling Ontario only , maybe Quebec.  (Gotta find out the rules there, when hauling in a "foreign country").  Done lotsa hauling in there when working for other trucking companys.

If you can stay under 26000 Lbs or 11793 kg, You wont need IRP for Quebec. You will need an NEQ number for about $650 the first time and then 300 per year.
If you go over that weight you will need IRP and IFTA.
I was going to stay out of there, but I seem to get some good freight there or stuf back from the US. I am in El Paso TX right now and looking for backhaul, could well get me back there again.

Thanks for the info on Quebec, I remember seeing that somewhere that if  your below a certain weight your OKay with what you have in ON. Been in Texas a couple of times with a big rig , one guy told me he knew I wasnt from there cuz  I speek with an accent.  That was funny.  Every one thinks they speak normal where they come from.  Hope you get a good load back, stay safe on dem dar roads.

I have a double accent then, lol. Still a bit left fron the olde country.....
You may want to check more in PQ, if you are an Ltd or Inc. you will need an NEQ regardless of weight.

Right now Im hauling livestock on the weekends up to Northern Ontario, and will be picking up my first load of golf carts this aft.  Been asked to haul into Quebec but always said no.  I will be interested in a later date to receive info from you as who / what number to contact the authorities in Quebec.  I could see some local runs from here into Montreal coming my way.  Thanks  Jacob.

Canada has 11 provinces and three territories. ( Newfound & Labrador arent stuck together.)

Provinces:

Alberta
British Columbia

Manitoba
New Brunswick
Newfoundland
Labrador
Nova Scotia
Ontario
Prince Edward Island
Quebec
Saskatchewan

Territories:

Northwest Territories
Nunavut
Yukon

Small correction is in order here,Canada has 10 provinces and 3 territories-the change that needs made above is that Labrador and Newfoundland are 1 province even though the area is divided between the island and mainland. So yes they are stuck together.

Another item to be aware of is the First Nations Countrys dispersed throughout Canada who are becoming more aggressive and militant in their demands.  Expect highway closures popping up this year as they are treated with kid gloves and allowed to get away with too much shxt.  Its reverse discrimation now.

Ok, I'm a bit late to the post, But OBAC is the place I would call with questions about running in Canada, They are like OOIDA here in the states. I'm a life member of both..OBAC fights the speed limiters and EOBRS in Canada, Like OOIDA fights them here. And YES it does go down to medium duty trucks...So Hot Shots unless you want your truck to be speed governed by the Government, and Forced to have Electronic Logs that plug into your ECM (OBD2 port) OOIDA 1800-444-5791 or stop by in Grain Valley MO.

Yes I'm from TX but I do like Tim Hortons Coffee! And some of the back woods truck stops, (wide spots on the road) have some real good food! And the 5th wheel truck stops aren't too bad either.
